A newsletter that is sufficiently compelling to keep subscribers really interested usually takes a lot of time to put together.

They give away MORE ebooks or software tools with someone else's name on them.

Now that I've told what the problem is, I guess I'd better justify my comments, by explaining exactly why it's so bad to give away products with someone else's name on.

There's three major factors at work here...

 
Factor 1 - The "Goldfish" Effect

Did you know that scientists have discovered that the average Goldfish has a memory of just 3 seconds?

I've no idea how they discovered this, but the fact is that within 3 seconds of a Goldfish learning something new, it's gone.

Now I'm not going to suggest that your subscribers are Goldfish - or that they'll forget everything you tell them in 3 seconds flat.

However I can virtually guarantee you that within a few days of your subscribers downloading something from one of your emails, most of them will have forgotten who they got it from.

You see most people are subscribed to lots of lists - 15 to 20 is not uncommon.

That's means lots of emails - all offering them gifts, advice, etc.

So even if your subscribers absolutely love the ebook that you've given them, if it doesn't have your name on it, they will not remember that it came from you!

Factor 2 - The "Wasted Income" Effect

This one really is a "no-brainer" - but it's amazing how many people overlook it.

Ebooks with other people's name on have THEIR adverts and links in.

Any subscriber who reads them and responds to the adverts, will put cash in someone else's pocket!

Factor 3 - The "Missed Opportunity" Effect

Effects 1 and 2 were bad enough - but this one is nothing short of a DISASTER.

Providing information to your subscribers is key to earning their trust - and hence encouraging them to stay on your list - and to open up their wallets.
